Building Strong Foundations for Children and Families

Scottish Adoption & Fostering has launched its Strong Foundations Patrons Scheme, inviting supporters to make a lasting difference to children, young people and families across Scotland.

Every child deserves to feel safe, understood and loved. Yet for many children, life begins with experiences of neglect, abuse, loss or instability that can have a lasting impact on their emotional wellbeing, relationships and sense of identity.

With the right support at the right time, children and families can begin to heal, build trust and thrive. Scottish Adoption & Fostering provides vital therapeutic and practical support to help make this possible.

The charity is now inviting individuals to become Strong Foundations Patrons, providing dependable, long-term support through a monthly gift of £50.

The scheme has been launched with the support of Zander Murray, former Scottish professional footballer and Scottish Adoption & Fostering’s first Honorary Patron. Zander is supporting the charity’s work to ensure vulnerable children and young people have access to the support they need to build stronger, more secure futures.

Making a lasting difference

Patron support will help Scottish Adoption & Fostering to plan ahead, respond quickly when families are struggling and continue providing specialist support when it matters most.

Contributions will help the charity to:

  • Provide trauma-informed peer groups for children and young people, helping to reduce isolation and build confidence.
  • Equip parents and carers with therapeutic tools to strengthen relationships and help prevent family breakdown.
  • Support the charity’s Young Ambassadors: care-experienced young people who mentor others and help shape the services provided.
  • Advocate for children within schools and wider systems that can sometimes struggle to understand and respond to their needs.

Together, this support helps create stronger families and brighter futures for children who have already faced significant challenges.

What does it mean to be a Strong Foundations Patron?
